So I have some vintage coats I wear for fall and winter, but have not worn the 3/4 sleeve style ones so much due to the cold hand & arm factor. Last year I wanted some longer leather gloves to add some panache and a much needed layer of warmth to these coats for the season, but I just couldn’t justify the prices of the ones I saw ($150 - ack!). Leave it to Tar-jay to solve my problem eventually. Amazingly, these are leather, lined and are the perfect length (about 14″ long). They come in black (which I sprang for) and now I am eyeing the fancier metallic leather ones. They really are nice quality for the price and they are even on sale this week! Now I need to just make sure I bust them out with my coats without feeling ‘overdressed’ …

Ok, so I am slow on the uptake on this one; and usually I am a Tarjay devotee to an embarrassing degree (what a great way to kill an hour and a half shopping like crazy and still not buy over $15 worth of cool stuff?), but I totally dropped the ball here. The Sigerson Morrison for Target shoe line essentially came and went right by me in 2 days.
Some of them are made from actual suede, so I was interested. Now, some of the designs are not my cup of tea, but of course the ones that are are, are all gone in my size. The release was Oct. 12th, I believe. How could the Tarjay Gods NOT know they needed to double or triple order this designers line for them?! Sigh, well its not like I really NEEDED another pair of black flats (even if they did have snazzy crystals on em), but the ‘Desperately Seeking Susan’ booties were kinda fun and I mighta tried them. All gone…except if you’re a size 5 1/2 or 11.

Wow! We found a vintage couture piece that PROVES classic investments are so worth it! This 90s era Christian Lacroix Pret-a-Porter coat dress is an amazing example! The fit and flare shape is so sexy and looks like it just walked down the runway at the RTW 2008 show!… and its in the hot color of the season - a rich vivid royal purple! Can’t get any better! Just like Beth at TheVintageSociety, I love a good white dress. They are surprisingly easy to dress around and lately its all about white lace for me! At first too sweet sounding, these seem to be the perfect foil to anything tough or hand-hewn, even to soften up an architectural/avant garde pair of shoes.
Beth does it light and summery with the russet leather accessories…

I am especially glad this year the FPTB (Fashion Powers That Be) have decided to embrace one of my personal favorites. Mens style shoes , oxfords, lace ups, whatever you want to call them. I have been wearing this style for YEARS with EVERYTHING and as long as there are some nice details I always get people asking about my shoes. AND they are comfortable!!! Now maybe they aren’t the stiletto look some admire, and those have their place but for ‘everyday wear with flair’ you can’t beat ‘em in my long wet winter city. I already own about 6 pairs that I have been wearin forever but I still can’t help but look at the offerings coming out!
